To Be Present

“To Be Present“

You tell me to be still
to trust that you are
in control
You ask me to release
and then in the release
simply to let go.

As I wait expectantly
in your presence
I know there’s naught
for me to do,
but still my thoughts
and wait on you
Holy Spirit to move.

When I’m tempted
to go ahead of you
and not trust your time
or plan
Oh gracious, Holy Spirit
do not loose my hand.

Hold my feet to the paths
of the cross, lest I stray.
Oh gracious, holy Father
please guide me this day.
