Never Alone
We never walk alone because Jesus experienced being forsaken, rejected, and abused in our place. He knows how we feel because He bore it all for us. He has promised to come again and receive us unto Himself. He is preparing a place for us to live with Him always. That is the ultimate victory of the cross and resurrection. It deals with our past, present, and future. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow.
“Never Alone“
your eyes tell me
she abandoned you
without a word,
left you reaching out
and finding only a void
you still try to fill
Even now, you recoil from
her loosening you
without a backward glance,
though you still pant
with unmet expectations,
gripping the hope that she may
one day come back.
When you see her bags
-carefully packed and sitting
neatly in the hall
you realize she’s already
been long gone
So rushing to the tomb,
you find it empty-
my clothes, carefully folded-
the memories crush down
on you
like waves of betrayal
you don’t understand
that I am going on a journey
but I’m coming back for you.
I won’t leave you an orphan,
rejected, forgotten, and alone
I’m not leaving, though to you
I’m already gone.
I won’t leave without
seeing you again.
I am not her.
I won’t leave you
without comfort,
without an adieu.
Remember all my love letters
written in red ink.
My blood flowing down Calvary.
See here a counselor
and a comforter
for your every need.
You argue that
my physical presence
will not be with you, so true
but my Holy Spirit will never
abandon or desert you.
How can he? He lives in you.
Look around you and
see that you are
no longer an orphan.
You are free,
part of a blood-bought family.
